Quinssa Stand
We are always looking for members to man the Quinssa Stand before each home game in the East Stand bar. A committee member will also be present. Many thanks to those who have already helped out.
Please let me know at members@quinssa.org.uk if you think you could spare an hour before the game.
Quinssa and Ethiad
Quinssa have been working with Etihad, the new sponsor of Harlequins, to develop more Quinssa member benefits. Etihad see Quinssa as the ‘voice’ of the Quins supporter and will continue to work with Quinssa during the season. You can find the full details here.
For those of you who don’t know much about Etihad Airways, they are the national airline of the United Arab Emirates and the fastest growing airline in the world. They have won several top awards in the last few years, and fly to over 45 destinations worldwide, via their hub Abu Dhabi. They have a strong customer focus and we see this as really positive in their partnership with Quinssa. Have a look at their website if you want to know more: www.etihadairways.com.
Walk of Legends Stone for Nick Duncombe
You will remember we advised you some time ago that Quinssa had purchased a stone in the Twickenham Walk of Legends in honour of Nick Duncombe. We have recently been advised that Phase 2 of the Walk of Legends, which Nick’s stone is part of, is now being laid at Twickenham Stadium. This will be open to the public on Saturday 8th November 2008 when England play the Pacific Islands in the Investec Challenge Series. Nick’s stone will be in the Roger Uttley quadrant, which is quadrant number 39. As a reminder, we ordered a Double Stone (Red Stone with Gold Lettering) with the following words on it: Nick Duncombe, A Harlequin & True Gentleman, Forever A Star.
viagogo Ticket Exchange
Quins have joined up with viagogo to allow Harlequins season ticket holders to sell unwanted match tickets for games they cannot attend. This means that season ticket holders can get money back for missed games and ticketless fans can buy tickets for games that would otherwise be sold out.
Details can be found at harlequins.viagogo.co.uk
DVD Rentals
Unfortunately we have been advised by Insight (the company who produce the match DVDs that we purchase for loan to members) that Premier Rugby Limited has informed them that they are no longer allowed to provide copies of DVDs to anyone other than the Clubs themselves – not even to Players. This is obviously very disappointing news for all concerned but totally out of our, and Insight’s control. Insight are working to understand the reasons behind PRL’s decision and have promised to keep us informed. We are all, obviously, hoping that the decision is reversed but as it stands we will regrettably not be receiving DVDs of this season’s matches.
A petition has been set up at petitiononline.com asking for DVD sales to be reinstated, whether it will help is another matter but it can't hurt to sign it.
DVDs of previous seasons' matches are still available to borrow.
Eating In Twickenham
Discounts available with Quinssa card:
Fancy An Indian?
Quinssa are delighted to announce that the Taste of Moghul Indian restaurant in York Street, Twickenham is offering all Quinssa members a 10% discount off their final bill on production of their Quinssa membership card. There are no restrictions as to time of day/day of the week that this applies. The Taste of Moghul has always been a great place for a curry after watching the Mighty Quins, or whenever you are in the Twickenham area, but clearly it is now THE place and a ‘Quinssa Friendly’ restaurant!
Scrummery Café at Twickenham
The Scrummery at Twickenham Stadium is no more, but Karen is still running the original Scrummery at 105 Whitton Road. She has very kindly offered Quinssa members a 10% discount on their bill on production of their membership card.
The Scrummery has been a favourite of Harlequins players (or "My boys" as Karen calls them) for a long time.
Now that The Stoop doesn't open until 1pm why not pop in to The Scrummery for a pre match breakfast/lunch.
