Programme Notes 2009/10
Toulouse
It’s good to get away from it all sometimes but after a holiday on a Greek Island with no phone, no internet and no TV I’m struggling to catch up with the world let alone the rugby. One consolation is that I missed all the politics and the conferences but I must be well behind with the rumour mill surrounding the Club.
Apparently there is a queue of potential DORs lining the A316 for application forms. Armed with passport, utility bill and references from all the best clubs and national teams they are seeking one of the “best-paid-jobs” in the sport ... apparently. They’re being bussed in from every corner of the globe and hanging around outside hoping for an interview sometime soon .... apparently! Someone told me in confidence that a couple are camped out in the Rosebine car-park even now so they get first shot when the gates open. A pint for the one who spots our next DOR lurking about in one of the hospitality boxes today.
Some of our jolly band did make it to Cardiff last Saturday and whilst the result was disappointing they enjoyed some banter and beer with the locals. The other disappointment was the new ground just acquired by the Blues. Concrete and soulless was the general opinion only lightened by some home fans dressed as vampires. The joke has worn very thin but will probably be around to haunt us all this season.
Today we welcome one of France’s most successful teams to our not-so-humble abode and hope that they also brought a good contingent of supporters. The possibility of doing a double over the French two years running is a tantalising prospect and we must really get behind the team today. It would be a great incentive to visit the south of France early in the New Year if we win today.
If you didn’t get to our “Evening-With-Brian–Moore” last Tuesday then you missed a belter. Brian was his usual uncontroversial self with a few suggestions on how to improve the game. One hundred members and guests packed into the Cabbage Patch for a great night out. We have more evening meetings planned so keep looking out for info in the regular mailings, on this page and on the website.
The 9th February 2010 is when we will be holding our third annual 6 Nations Dinner at the Twickenham Stoop. The evening will include a 3 course sit down meal with Player Host per table, Live Band, Supporters’ Awards and a Raffle for the Academy with some amazing prizes. All this for just £55 per person. Tickets will be available soon.
If you haven’t renewed your membership for this season then you can do it today at our stand in the Etihad stand before the game. New members are also welcome to sign up at the same venue.
I’m keen to have photographs of supporters to accompany this article so if you’ve got some suitable ones then please send them to me at steve@quinssa.org.uk and see yourself and friends in the programme. Photos from away games are especially welcome.
The next away coach this season is to Worcester on the 24th October. For bookings see us in the Etihad stand before KO today or contact coaches@quinssa.org.uk
