Programme Notes 2009/10

Sale Sharks

The last Quinssa coach of the season was not to the premiership game at Welford Road as predicted but to the “A” League Final at the same venue last Monday night. This hardy bunch of travellers were joined by a scattering of others who’d got there by other means and we all numbered about 300 in a crowd of 8,000 so shout as we did we weren’t as loud as the 7,700 Tigers supporters. I thought we played the more positive rugby especially during the second half and had we had another few minutes could have snatched victory. Our young guys played the “Leicester All-Stars” team with passion and guts right to the end. It must have been a great learning and experience opportunity for them, especially the schoolboys, up against seasoned and cynical internationals.

SALE – SALE – SALE – SALE

No it’s nothing to do with today’s opponents. We are pushing the final opportunity today to book your tickets for the Quinssa Summer Party on the 5th June here at the Twickenham Stoop. Book today at the Quinssa stand situated in the Kings Bar under the Etihad Stand before KO as this is your last chance to secure tickets. The Quinssa AGM will be held during the event and the first 20 attendees are guaranteed a pair of complimentary tickets for the Quins Race Night at Windsor Race Course in August. See below for more details

With an entry fee of only £6 per head (children under 12 free), we will have use of the members’ bar, lots of activities on the pitch and everyone gets a free meal from Ollie Kohn’s famous Jolly Hog & Sausage catering emporium.  This is going to be another fantastic Quinssa day out, so make sure you get your tickets today!

Another event to put in the diary is an evening Race Meeting at Windsor on Monday 23rd August. The club and Quinssa are working together on this and it should help kick-off the new season with a social event. We’re hopeful that some players will be attending too. More news to follow. Free tickets to this event will be given to the first 20 attendees at the  Quinssa AGM.

Marathon News: Quins supporter Erol Ali ran last month’s London Marathon and raised money for Hope HIV the official Harlequins charity this season. He will present a cheque to Hope HIV at half-time today.

So this is our last set of notes in the programme this season and I think it’s fair to say that we are already  looking forward to the start of next season now. We can hopefully forget the events of this season and start afresh on a new campaign. It is also time for us to say goodbye to some of the players and wish them well in their future careers inside and outside rugby.

If you have been a regular reader of these notes you will have read about all the events that Quinssa hold each year on behalf of its members. For the princely sum of £5 pa you can join this growing organisation and benefit from free or discounted entry to most events, discounted coach travel and a chance to contribute to the development of the club. The voice of the supporter is heard much louder when directed through our close contacts with the management. We are separate from the club but work with them to promote Harlequins FC, the match-day experience and a closer relationship off the field.

On behalf of Quinssa I hope you all have an enjoyable summer and we look forward to seeing you at some stage before the next season kicks-off.
