Programme Notes 2009/10

Gloucester

A win on the road, especially at the Berkshire home of the Not-Nots, is to be applauded at any time but even more so when we fielded such a young team. All credit to them for a fantastic defensive display and the confidence to take the opportunities presented.  I am concerned however that we play so much of our rugby with only 14 players on the field. Being short of a man for a quarter of the game is becoming too regular and must be affecting our results. Are we the victims of a conspiracy or are my multi-coloured blinkers distorting the facts?

Another habit that seems to have grown this season is these Sunday games. I know all the arguments as to why it has to be so, but that doesn’t change the fact that I enjoy Saturday games much more when I can relax afterwards and push the thought of Monday to the back of my mind. A price for progress?

Today we have to secure a win if there is to be any chance of advancement in this tournament and we also need other results to go our way. Your voice is needed as always to give us that extra home advantage. The Glaws fans seem a little despondent of late and feeling unloved. If you see one close up today then by all means give them a hug but fib a little about how you wish they were enjoying better times. Then roar your head off during the game and wish them a proper stuffing.

It’s probably as well that we are not playing a Welsh team today. The passion of national support mixed in with club loyalty can be a heady mix during the 6 Nations and we don’t want any repercussions from yesterday’s game over the road, the result of which is unknown to me as I write.

Do you have the missing Quins blazer? If you know anything about its whereabouts please contact john@quinssa.org.uk.

Meet the Management 23rd March 2010

On Tuesday March 23rd we have arranged a Meet the Management evening with Mark Evans and Conor O’Shea in the Members’ bar at the Twickenham Stoop.

The evening, which will be in the form of a Q&A session, will run from 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm) to about 9:30 pm (chucking out at 10pm). Email your questions in advance to john@quinssa.org.uk

We are expecting this event to be very popular because it will be the first opportunity we will have to meet Conor as our new Director of Rugby and to hear their visions for the club, especially on the playing side. Please email john@quinssa.org.uk to advise your attendance and number of guests so we have enough seats laid out.

This event will, as usual, be free to Quinssa members with a nominal £3 entry fee for non-member guests. You may also join Quinssa on the night.

The next away coach this season is to Gloucester on Saturday 13th February. For bookings see us in the King’s Bar before home games at the Stoop or contact coaches@quinssa.org.uk
