Programme Notes 2009/10
Bath
There were many doubtful souls who predicted that the new South Stand would not be ready in time for this game. A good old fashioned penalty clause focused the mind of the builders I’m sure and if you are sat there anytime soon you might check that your seat is bolted down properly! That’s over 14,000 now comfortably sat down and plenty of potential left to reach the magic figure of 15,000 needed to meet the Premiership minimum for the future. There must be a few others who long for a stadium like ours.
I’m sure that some commentators will be exercised with the implications of today’s game but I wish we could now simply move on to the reason we are all here today and that is to watch an exciting game of rugby between two passionate teams. Bath seem to have put their travails of the summer behind them now and we must do the same quickly. It’s not getting any easier but confidence can only grow from success on the field. Your vocal support for the team is vital at every game and we know they appreciate the noise we make at home or away.
Some hardy souls made the trip to Newcastle last week and were rewarded with a great second half performance. And we return there in little over a month for the Anglo-Welsh Cup but this time it will be played on Sunday. They don’t make it easy for visiting supporters do they?
If you are intending to make the journey to the new Cardiff Blues stadium next week keep an eye out for our weekly mailer to members which will have details of hotels and other venues in Cardiff as well as travel information. Quinssa will be running a coach that day, so please book early.
Some dates for the diary now. First up is the 13th October when we are holding an evening session with the legendary Brian Moore who will be regaling us with his knowledge and wisdom on all things rugby. This will be held upstairs at The Cabbage Patch starting at 7pm. Usual free entry for Quinssa members and £3 for non-members. Space is limited and you need to book for this event, so please advise your attendance to john@quinssa.org.uk or ring him on 078 1782 2950.
Next date is the 9th February 2010 when we will be holding our third annual 6 Nations Dinner at the Twickenham Stoop. A fantastic opportunity to meet with the players and enjoy a good value night out. More details to follow.
If you haven’t renewed your membership for this season then you can do it today at our stand in the Etihad stand before the game. New members are also welcome to sign up at the same venue.
I’m keen to have photographs of supporters to accompany this article so if you’ve got some suitable ones then please send them to me at steve@quinssa.org.uk and see yourself and friends in the programme. Photos from away games are especially welcome.
The first away coach this season is to Cardiff on the 10th October. For bookings see us in the Etihad stand before KO today or contact coaches@quinssa.org.uk
