Programme Notes 2007/8
Bath Rugby
The atmosphere during our last home game against Gloucester was probably the best I’ve ever encountered. An exciting match, full of passionate rugby and seven tries, was punctuated by a pulsating last ten minutes. The rearguard action in our own 22, the resonating “Harlequins” chant, and the communal countdown left everyone with a fixed, but silly grin, for the whole weekend. No one appeared to want to leave and the chants continued long after the final whistle. My only concern is that they might have spoilt us, so that we’ll feel short-changed if there is not a repeat of that this afternoon.
As you will know, the Quinssa committee work hard throughout the year to organise events with the Club, of interest to all supporters, and not just members. May I therefore publicise two such events being held over the next 6 weeks. The Video Analysis Evening and More Affordable Do have both been organised by Quinssa, but open to everyone!
The Video Analysis Evening will be held on Wednesday 19th March in the Members Clubhouse at the Twickenham Stoop, starting at 7.30pm. Back by request from last year, we will have Tony Diprose, Andy Friend and Ed Spokes providing a fascinating insight to one aspect of the coaches’ role in team preparation. This promises to be a great, and very educational, evening and everyone who attended last year thoroughly enjoyed it. The bar will be open and there will also be a chance to win some great raffle prizes with all proceeds going to the Quinssa Academy Scheme. All are welcome to attend and it is FREE to Quinssa and Club members and £3 to non-members, although you can join Quinssa on the night for £5. There is no need to book - just turn up.
We are pleased to confirm Thursday 24th April for the “More Affordable Do” (MAD) to suit the pockets of all supporters. The event will take place at the Twickenham Stoop (King’s Bar, Etihad Stand) from 7.30pm until 12.30am. The MAD evening will include:
- 3 course sit down meal
- Player Host per table (subject to availability)
- Complimentary wine on the tables
- Cash bar until midnight
- Disco
- Supporters’ Awards
- Free Parking at the Stoop
All this for only £55.00 per person!
Tickets will be available for purchase from the Quinssa Stand in the Etihad Bar before today’s match and the Newcastle match on 29th March. Please contact Emma (rugbybird@quinssa.org.uk) with any queries. Don’t forget this is open to all supporters and their guests and promises to be a great evening.
We are also liaising with the RFU Referees Department on a suitable date for a Meet The Referee Q&A Session. These have also been good fun in the past and have demonstrated that a lack of knowledge of the rugby Laws will never get in the way of contradicting, loudly and publicly, a referee’s decision. Again, further details to follow in due course.
