Programme Notes 2005/6

Plymouth Albion

Today our Powergen Trophy adventure continues with a quarter final contest against Plymouth Albion. We trust that their fans, management and team enjoy their day at the Twickenham Stoop. So there’s plenty to play for today as the winner will only be one more win away from a day out at Twickers.

Perhaps it’s a sign of the times but we scored seven tries in the game against London Welsh but still felt a bit disappointed afterwards.

So what’s coming up? Fast approaching and planned to coincide with the last of the turkey is the Academy evening on the last day of January, Tuesday 31st. It’s a 7.30pm mingle for 8pm start here at the home of rugby, that’s the Stoop by the way.  A full card of guests includes Academy manager Tony Russ and the Academy Head coach Colin Osbourne, plus an assortment of youngsters. We will be launching our scheme to support the Natal Sharks academy exchange, plus there will be a variety of other things going on as well. We are also at an advanced stage of planning with a top referee to for another of those brilliant ref evenings later in the season. More details to follow.

There are still a few away trips left that you can experience the thrill of Quinssa coach travel. Exotic locations still left on the world tour itinerary include Newbury, sunny Doncaster and semi-independent Exeter. To book a place on any of these trips then come to the Quinssa desk in the East stand before the game or contact John directly through our website at www.quinssa.org.uk.

Quinssa’s desire to be as transparent as possible with its committee work continues with an open meeting before next week’s home game against Otley. Full details can be found on our website, details above etc.

As an independent supporter’s association we continue to represent fans’ opinions on a variety of topics. We recently fed back information on food after our meeting with the management and we did something similar on coach travel earlier in the season. I hope the extended piece in the London Welsh programme answered any remaining questions people might have about the exciting prospect of the Rugby League double header. Yet another first for Quins.

So if you want to know more about Quinssa, or express your opinions on the topic of the day then come and visit our desk by the stage in the East stand before the game. From there you’ll be able to find our heaps. Or you can quietly graze around our website whilst ruminating on the contents at www.quinssa.org.uk.

The photo shows young Norman who won the score jack pot after more roll-overs than I care to remember. He now has a whole coach load of best mates. Fickle lot coach travellers!

So in closing, as always may I ask you to get to your seat in plenty of time, please remember not to smoke in the stands, be aware of those around you, respect the kickers and the opposition and definitely lastly, enjoy the day and shout your pretty little head off.
