Programme Notes 2005/6
Manu Samoa
Today we have the rare occurrence of a second home game in four days. We welcome all the players, management and supporters of Manu Samoa and hope that they enjoy their time at London’s premier club.
I expect a few of the crowd today aren’t regular fans of Quins so I’m going take the opportunity to explain a bit more about Quinssa. Quinssa is the independent supporter’s organisation. We’ve been going for about three years and we have just shy of five hundred members.
What do we do?
A whole variety of things! We run events for our members, although we open most things to everyone for a small fee, organise travel to away games, bring fans together and support the club in a variety of other ways. All of this for the princely sum of a fiver a year.
This season so far we have had a couple of events at the Stoop. The first being an evening with Quins’ Director of rugby Dean Richards and Chief executive Mark Evans. Only last week we welcomed coaches John Kingston and Andy Friend for a very illuminating talk about their jobs and their views on wider rugby issues.
In the new year we have a big academy night. This is when we’ll be launching an innovative scheme to support the academy and will be hearing about the exchange program with Natal Sharks. This will be followed later in the season by yet another top referee giving his views on tackle, ruck and life in general.
Away travel
Someone who’s looking forward to the new year is our coach organiser young John, because so far he’s organised nine trips already this season (yes NINE!) with another few already lined up. So in the new year the away trips will be few and far between. Sometimes match tickets and or lunch are thrown in with the amazing packages we offer, currently bookings are being taken for the Bridgwater & Albion cup game (in Somerset), Bedford, Plymouth (an early start) and Newbury. Full details can be found on our website at www.quinssa.org.uk.
Fancy sharing?
Coach travel isn’t for everybody so we are also running a car sharing scheme for our members. So if you want a lift or have a spare space then this could be the scheme for you.
Anything else?
Plenty, but space precludes me so check out our informative website at www.quinssa.org.uk where you can find details of everything mentioned plus lots more including merchandise, charitable work, plenty of links, downloadable membership form and much more.
A couple of reminders
Please don’t take this the wrong way but to ensure that those around you don’t have their Quins experience tarnished please don’t smoke pitch side, respect kickers and if you have to leave your seat then try to do it in a break in play. Have a great evening, mix with some of the best fans in the world and cheer and cheer and cheer!
