Programme Notes 2005/6

Exeter Chiefs

Here we are half way through October and thanks to the vagaries of building and fixture schedules it’s already our penultimate home game before Christmas, probably. Today will be the toughest game we’ve had. Exeter Chiefs are a good side, runner up last year and even though some of last season’s prize pack have moved on, it will still be a difficult encounter. We hope all their fans who have made the long trek up from the south west enjoy their day, the same goes to their sponsors, management and players.

Our last game was played couple of weeks ago in deceptively atrocious conditions. A capricious wind, heavy drizzle and a mist more akin to a Hammer horror film made the conditions difficult. Quins gave their most complete performance of the season so far and the steady improvement match on match continues. Deano continues to run the rule over the squad with over thirty players used so far this season. Ceri made his long awaited first start of the season and it was could to see James Hayter (remember him?) involved with the squad.

Since our last home game Quinssa hosted a very successful evening with the management. Evs and Deano were in prime form and kept a sizable audience entertained for a long while. Our next event is on Thursday 17th of November when the dynamic coaching pairing of John Kingston and Andy Friend will be strutting their stuff. Full details are on our website www.quinssa.org.uk where details of other activities and events can also be found.

It’s really noticeable how many fans are making a greater effort to get to away games. There’s obviously a novelty about some venues and the sheer fact that they are different places are encouraging many fans to trek to far away places. Quinssa continue to run coaches to games, sometimes offering a meal en route and match tickets as well. Full details of how to book can be found on our web site at www.quinssa.org.uk or visit our desk in the East stand before the game and ask for our coach supreme John Hartley. Our coaches are suitable for all types so whether you’re on your own or have young children, you will all be made very welcome. For example the forthcoming Rotherham game, sorry, Earth Titans is being offered for an amazing £20, so don’t delay book today.

That photo of a grinning Deano, who would have thought a couple of years ago when we were revelling in successive cup defeats of some midlands team that we would be pleased and happy that he had joined us? Strange world isn’t it?

Now the last thing I need to mention is smoking. The Quinssa committee have had more verbal feedback on this topic than any other. Can I ask you out of respect to others not to smoke whilst you are in your seat. There’s plenty of places around the ground you can slip to before, at half time and after the game. Thanks.

In case you hadn’t guessed Quinssa is the independent supporter’s organisation set up a few years ago. Full details of what we do and why can be found on our website at www.quinssa.org.uk or why not visit some of our committee at the desk by the stage in the East stand before the game.

Enjoy the game, cheer the lads on, make all the Chiefs’ fans welcome and stay long enough to enjoy the fabulous match day experience to the full.
