Programme Notes 2004/5

Newcastle Falcons

Today we welcome Newcastle Falcons back to The Stoop for the return fixture ZP league fixture. We hope their fans, team and management enjoy their time in the capital. It was way back in September when we lost by one point in a tight and frustrating game, finally decided by a controversial penalty try. Let’s hope for a better outcome today.

West country smiles

For those of you who weren’t able to journey to Bath, you missed a rare double. It didn’t rain and we won. A tight game notable for a great fight back, some sterling performances and a complete shut out of Bath in the second half. The small but noisy contingent of away support certainly had a lot to cheer.

Away travel

Wins such as the Bath one on the road give the Quinssa coaches a different feel and a lot more noise on the return journey. I don’t think many people slept on the way back. There was even a hilarious impression of the Vernon sisters by two older members (no, I hadn’t heard of them either). There are just two trips left to experience the amazing cultural and sporting phenomenon that is one of John’s coaches. They are Northampton at the end of the month (isn’t the season now getting fragmented?) and Leeds. Although at the time of writing these notes I’m not too sure when this game will be played. Contact John either via the Quinssa table in the East Stand before the game or email him at coaches@quinssa.org.uk

Making an noise!

Quinssa have finally jumped on the Thunderstix bandwagon. We are selling today, for the first time, pairs of Bam Bams. These are two large lozenger shaped balloon type structures that you inflate and bang together to make a spine chilling noise. Of course it does help if the sound can be synchronised! They are just £2 a pair of three pairs for a fiver. So rush down NOW! To the Quinssa stand to buy some. Please note that the little straw that comes with them should not be given to small children.

Balloon race fun

On the subject of inflatable fun, do you remember that cracking balloon race we ran last year? Of course you do. Well we’re repeating it at our last home game of the season against Sale Sharks at the end of April. More details later and this time we will try to ensure that a paid employee of NEC Harlequins doesn’t win it!

Nervy run in

We’ve had three roller coaster rugby weekends on the trot. With everything being so close it’ll probably remain that way until one of the sides stitches wins on the trot together or even has a run of defeats. So it’s really important to cheer the lads all the way, even those last few minutes when we get that rush for the car park!

What’s Quinssa?

Quinssa is the independent fans organisation now almost two years old. We’ve a web site at www.quinssa.org.uk packed with information. It was recently redesigned and new content is being added all the time. Quinssa primarily organise away travel, arrange a host of social events, support the club and raise a fair bit for charity along the way. So why not join us?

Quinssa stand

Visit our table in the East Stand before the game (we’re near the bar!) to meet some of us and buy one of those fantastic Quinssa calendars. Amazingly there are just a few left. We’ve also got a couple of signed copies of The immortal Harlequin left and you can buy some inflatable slappers as well!

Have a great day, please be considerate to those around you, so stay in your seat and only leave it during breaks in play. If you have to leave before the end then don’t get in the eye line of those still watching. Now let’s hear some noise! Bang those Bam Bams! Come on you Quins!
