Programme Notes 2004/5
Leeds Tykes
This afternoon we welcome Leeds Tykes to the Stoop. We hope their supporters, management and players enjoy their short time here today.
Some success
On reflection the events surrounding last weekend surely make it our best weekend of the year. Our second ZP win on the trot in a dour hard fought game at Stockport on a cool evening temporarily improved our league position. Well done all those fans that made it up there after the game had been moved at relatively short notice. The crowd attendance was very poor, I can’t believe that that was an economically viable crowd for a ZP Premiership game.
Planning joy
Whilst it doesn’t exactly rival swimming with dolphins on the list of things to do before you die at least many of us can now say that we were there on the night when Richmond Council finally gave the go ahead for the new West Stand development. Full details are elsewhere, but the chamber and gallery were cram packed with fans young and old as the hour long case hearing ground to a vote. A big thank you for all those that were able to attend.
Whilst we’re looking back, don’t forget it was only a year ago when England won that trophy. Where were you that day?
Possibly coming up!
Unfortunately ticket sales have been a tad sluggish for the forthcoming ‘BPA Auction of Promises’. So please don’t leave it any longer and get your tickets today either at the Quinssa desk in the East stand before the game or from the ticket office after the game. Full details are elsewhere but the event, which also includes the Supporter’s Party (the must be seen at pre-Christmas event) is on December 1st starting at 7.30pm at the Stoop.
Coaches
If you want a seat on the coach to Ospreys on Sunday 5th December in the Heineken Cup then you better hurry as the coach is almost full. We do intend to run a coach for the Powergen Cup game at Bath just before Christmas, if we ever find out when the game is! Booking details are further down the column.
Bottom of the pile
This isn’t a comment on the team but the way the fans are treated by the organising powers of rugby. When will TV schedulers realise that fans have lives and arranging to get to some games takes some planning? Having games moved at short notice is simply not good enough. It gets even worse with two big away cup games coming up either side of Christmas and we still don’t know precise match arrangements. There’s really no excuse for it at all and the fans, who are the customers, should be treated a whole lot better.
What’s Quinssa?
Quinssa is the independent fans organisation now in it’s second year. We’ve a web site at www.quinssa.org.uk packed with information. Quinssa primarily organise away travel, arrange a host of social events, support the club and raise a fair bit for charity along the way.
Bookings and contacting us
If you’re around before the game then pop into the East Stand bar and by the stage you’ll see our table. It’s a chance to meet and greet other fans, book for coaches and find out more info.
Have a great day, relax after such another enjoyable week of work and enjoy the Quins match day experience to the full.
