Programme Notes 2004/5
Northampton Saints
A big welcome this afternoon to the supporters, players and management of Northampton Saints. We hope they enjoy some of their day here at the Stoop. Saints started with a good win, unlike us. So we’ve much to play for today. With the new north stand open for the first time, let’s make sure there’s plenty of noise to encourage our team as we search for that first league win.
What’s Quinssa?
For those of you new to Quins, you’re probably wondering who Quinssa are. We are a vibrant and very active supporters organisation than organises away travel, runs events, supports the club and does a host of other things, some very silly. We’ve been going since the April before last and membership stands close to five hundred. We have a table in the east stand bar before the game, so pop over for a chat and introduce yourself. Strangers are most welcome.
A busy summer
It’s been a busy summer for Quinssa. Apart from supporting a variety of Quins activities we had our first picnic on the paddock behind the east stand and enjoyed our second museum visit, this time to the Imperial War Museum. A few of us trekked over to Belfast for the preseason games, it was immense fun. All that talk about Ulster’s Friday night fortress of Ravenhill is a bit exaggerated. A well built thirties semi would be nearer the truth.
Coaches to away games
The first coaches we’re running this season are to the games at Worcester and Gloucester on the 2nd and 9th of October. We’re planning to run a couple of coaches to both games, one leaving early and one later. The later one will go straight to the game without any pickups and will return soon afterwards. The early one will leave early (hence it’s name) and will return a fair bit later. The coaches are great fun and a good way to get to know more fans. So why not give it a try? You can find out the full details and prices at the Quinssa desk before the game or email me on will@quinssa.org.uk.
Away game at Ospreys
I know it’s a long way in the future, being the 5th of December, but give it a thought as to whether you want to be on the Quinssa coach. Booking details as above.
Fancy brunch?
Before the next home game against Bath why not pop into the Scrummery at Twickenham Stadium to have both solid and liquid refreshments? Quinssa have organised a 5% discount to card carrying members of Quinssa (guests won’t get the discount I’m afraid!). If you’re interested then give Duncan an email at prof@quinssa.org.uk or leave your details at the Quinssa desk before the game.
Be positive!
There’s plenty of doom and gloom around after a disappointing show last week. Remember, the season will still be running in May, that’s eight months from now and there’s absolutely everything to play for. London Wasps started last season with a four try hammering (who by?) but ended up top of the pile at the end of the season. So every cheer counts and don’t forget, we are still reigning PPCC champions.
So enjoy the game and pop along to the Quinssa desk before the game.
