Saturday 25th October 2003: v Sale Sharks

Cheer the lads on!

A big welcome to the players, management and supporters of Sale Sharks. We hope that today’s game is considerably better than last week’s!

At one point last week I thought I was going to be the only left in the East stand at the end of the game. The previous week we had a pitch invasion and last week it was a ground evacuation. Utterly shameful! I hate to think what the players must have felt seeing such an exodus and at a time when vocal support was being cried out for. Our start to the season has seen four wins out of six, not too bad at all. Let’s cheer the lads on to win number five.

Today will offer an exciting sight at half time with the launch of the Quinssa balloon race. We are hoping that all five hundred balloons would have been sold with a prize going to the balloon that gets the furthest and for the person that returns the card attached to it. All proceeds for this event will go to Quins nominated charity the BPA as Quinssa have donated the balloons and Herds of Isleworth the helium.

The Quinssa stand did a roaring trade before the England game with many people joining and it was good to put faces to some familiar names. Membership continues to grow, now we are around 250 with an end of year target of 500. So we have much work still to do.

The Academy evening is fast approaching on Thursday 30th October at 7pm in the East Stand. The leading lights of our Academy, Tony Russ and Colin Osborne, will be there to give us the low down on what the academy does, how it functions and what it’s like to be in it. It should be a fascinating evening. To book tickets, please see Duncan today or email him on prof@quinssa.org.uk. The event is free to Quinssa members and £3 to others. The bar will be open, however there will be no food available.

Coach travel is always high on our agenda with plans in place for the Bath trip on November 22nd and for Gloucester on December 27th. Remember that the Bath trip coincides with the small matter of the world cup final, so the coach will be leaving the Stoop at 7am! If you want to go on either trip then please contact me on will@quinssa.org.uk or call me one evening on 020 8643 2145. Please leave an evening phone number if you want me to call you back and remember that payment is required up front for all Quinssa travel.

The Cetransa UEMC game in Spain in fast approaching and Duncan can help you with your travel arrangements, email him at prof@quinssa.org.uk for more details.

If you want to know more about Quinssa, point your web browser to Quinssa.org.uk to find our aims, what we do and a downloadable application form.

So enjoy the game, respect the kickers, raise the roof and get to your seats early.
