Saturday 29th November 2003: v Leeds Tykes
Lots going on at Quinssa
Today we give our usual warm welcome to the players, management and supporters of Leeds Tykes. We trust that they enjoy their Saturday afternoon down south and appreciate what it’s like to play in front of a full house.
It’s been a depressing two weeks since the fireworks here against Northampton. Surely the best sixty minutes of rugby seen at the Stoop for many a year? Since then we’ve been dumped out of the Powergen by today’s opponents and also lost on the road to Bath. Both games were close and very disappointing. Most people will remember the Bath game for a different reason, obviously, winning the Web Ellis trophy for the first time. A big congratulations to all that made it happen both on and off the pitch. Quins can be justly proud of their contribution from both Will and “Sir” Jase!
It was a long day with the coach leaving the Stoop at 7am to dash down to Stratton St Margarets, on the edge of Swindon, to watch the world cup final. We all know what happened next, obviously we met a traffic jam getting from Swindon to Bath after the game!
I’ve no objection to having a seat out in the open, but it still narks me that you pay a top price of £23 for a seat behind the try line and with a sizeable amount of the pitch obscured is a tad frustrating!
It’s worth noting that after today we only have four home games left in the league. Such is the organisation of the season that we will now be on the road for a lot of the time. Our next coach is on December 27th against Gloucester. See me at the Quinssa desk or email me on will@quinssa.org.uk to book a place. Please remember that payment is required up front. In the new year we will start running combined match ticket and coach seat deals. Details will go up on our website quinssa.org.uk shortly.
There’s a lot going on from Quinssa at the moment so here’s a quick recap. Our 2004 calendars are absolutely fantastic. The print run is limited so if you haven’t bought one yet then you need to hurry. The balloons are slowly being returned from the Balloon race and plenty of those special raffle tickets are available, both events are helping to raise funds for the BPA. If you’re going on Duncan’s trip to the British museum then make sure he knows! Places are strictly limited. There’s plenty more going on, visit our desk in the East stand bar or log onto our web site. Also don’t forget to get your ticket for the Supporter’s Christmas party, details are elsewhere in the programme.
So have a good day here at The Stoop, take full advantage of the facilities on offer and I look forward to seeing you at our Quinssa stand.
