Bedford Blues
Goldington Road, Bedford MK40 3NF
(t) 01234 347 980 (f) 01234 347 511
Where the club is: Unsurprisingly Bedford Blues are located in Bedford, which is a little way north of Milton Keynes and Luton. There’s always a strong Northampton influence as they have always shared an A side. We last played them in a competitive match in the 1999/2000 season when we won both games by very narrow margins. Bedford were relegated at the end of that season. Since then we have met them twice in pre-season friendlies, winning well on Tofty’s debut (did he kick 10 out of 11?) and losing narrowly last year in a well contested match.
Club ground: Goldington Road is on a large site with some impressive facilities including a raised bank for wheel chair viewing, a couple of stands (one covered) and a variety of new buildings. There are a number of bars and we are ensured a very warm welcome from some pretty friendly supporters. Limited parking at the ground, probably plenty at the hospital next door.
Position last year: Bedford finished seventh with 16 wins out of 26 and a hefty game points surplus. They will be expecting do better this year.

How to get there:
Road: It looks as though it’s the M1 exit 13 onto the A421. Put MK40 3NF into www.streetmap.co.uk to plan your exact route. Match day parking might be a problem.
Rail: Fast direct trains can be taken from London St Pancras, the journey takes about forty minutes, but do ensure that you get on a fast train otherwise it’ll add an extra twenty or thirty minutes. Slower direct trains can also be taken from Kings Cross Thameslink (out of the main station exit, turn left and follow the signs, about a four minute walk), these take just over an hour. The return trains run until quite late. The ground is comfortably in walking distance from the ground.
